Pursuant to subsection 5.9(2) of the Aeronautics Act, and after taking into account that the exemption is in the public interest and is not likely to affect aviation safety, I hereby exempt PASCAN AVIATION INC., pursuant to Part VII, Subpart III of the Canadian Aviation Regulations (CARs), from the requirements of paragraph 703.07 (2) b) of the CARs and standard 723.07 (2) b) (B) (II). This paragraph requires that the chief pilot have at least 500 hours flight time of which 250 hours shall be as pilot-in-command within the preceding three years on the same category and class of aircraft being operated.
Purpose
The purpose of this exemption is to allow PASCAN AVIATION INC. to use a chief pilot who does not have 250 hours flight time as pilot-in-command within the preceding three years on the same category and class of aircraft being operated, specifically the Pilatus PC12.
Application
This exemption applies to David Deslauriers, licence no. AA 388039, when he serves as chief pilot for PASCAN AVIATION INC, under the terms of its air operator certificate, no. 9633, to carry out its operations.
Validity
This exemption is in effect until the earliest of:
- When David Deslauriers attains a total of 250 hours as a pilot-in-command of a PC12;
- Midnight, ET, July 31, 2002;
- The date on which this exemption is canceled in writing by the Minister, where he is of the opinion that it is no longer in the public interest, or that it is likely to affect aviation safety.
